In an effort to not bog you down with details, I am going to try to just hit the highlights of our day. If you would like more specific information about a certain topic, please let me know.
First, you will begin seeing grades in the gradebook tonight or tomorrow. Please understand that binder checks will count for every subject. They are worth 9 points and do affect each student’s grades because their organization and attention to detail will affect the work they complete (or don’t).
Next, the gradebook is set up so that scores are averaged together each time a new one is added. If your child fails the first assignment, it will appear as if their entire grade is an F. The same goes with any other grade. As more assignments are added to the gradebook, the average will become more balanced based on the work. Please don’t panic or brag based on grades in the first couple of weeks. The grades will more accurately reflect progress as more assignments are averaged in.
Lastly, we have nearly all of our computer programs set up - FINALLY! The students can now log into the online science book, Imagine Math, and Journeys when necessary. They can log in through the Clever Portal on the district website. I also put a link to the Clever Portal on the class website homepage at youngbm.mtnhomesd.org. All students need to access the programs is their Google login.
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments.
Today’s quote is from pastor, Francis Chan, “Our greatest fear should not be of failure… but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.”
Have a great day!
